Eureka history before sailing the Whitsundays

Eureka under sail in the Whitsunday Islands

Eureka was built at Bob Robertsons yacht factory at Caloundra in Queensland.  Eureka was specifically built to sail in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race.  Eureka was launched in October 2000 at Mooloolaba, before being sailed to Coffs Harbour in New South Wales for the Coffs Harbour to Lord Howe Island Ocean Sailing Race.   Lord Howe Island is around 500kms east of Coffs Harbour so this was a decent Ocean Race to test Eureka's sailing performance.

Eureka sailing before sailing in the Whitsundays

Eureka sailed to victory, line honours in her first race, the 2000 Coffs Harbour to Lord Howe Island Ocean Sailing Race.
Eureka sailed in the Sydney to Hobart Ocean Race in 2000, 2001 and 2004.
